About the Trip

Tanzania occupies a special place in the hearts of old and new Africa hands.

Kapok Africa adventures, whether private Custom or tailor made Classic Safaris, almost invariably pay their respects to Tanzania’s Serengeti, the southern half of the Serengeti-Maasai Mara ecosystem, the undisputed capital of the world’s animal kingdom. The Serengeti is amazing in its enormity, it’s almost infinite skies and long, golden reaches, its million-year quiet. It enraptures with moments of grace; we may well see, And then there’s the fabulous, animal-thronged Lost World of the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s most magical places, where we especially but hardly uniquely appreciate something, you are struck by the feeling of having lived for a time up in the air.

Itineraries

Day 1 Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, the tour departs. The first stop is Arusha Town for any last-minute purchases before we head off on safari. Afterward, we head to Lake Manyara. Lake Manyara National Park offers breathtaking views and a large variety of habitats. Acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps, and the lake itself. And thanks to this the small Park is able to support a large number of animal species and incredible birdlife. Manyara has the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world and the lions here are also renowned for their tree climbing. Dinner and overnight at kizomba campsite

Day 2 Serengeti National park

After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. Then heard to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti national park. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti campsite (seronera camp).

Day 3 Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater

As the sun slowly rises over the vast open plains, you will embark on your first game drive of the day. Due to the abundance of prey species, such as gazelles and impalas, the park boasts one of the largest lion populations in Africa as well as other predators such as leopards and cheetahs. Returning to camp after the game drive you will enjoy a hearty breakfast before leaving the park and driving towards Ngorongoro Crater. Arriving at the crater rim, the 600m deep caldera in all its splendour opens up before you. You will spend the night at a campsite on the crater’s edge, watching the sun set over the glistening springs of the collapsed volcano’s floor.
Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 4 Ngorongoro Crater – Mto wa mbu

After an early breakfast, you will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro conservation Area supports avast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park, is it’s dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually been seen here. Late afternoon transfer to kizumba campsite For dinner and Overnight

Day 5, tarangire national park

Pick up from 08.30am and drive to Tarangire National Park (2,850 sq. km) for game drives. It’s the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem. The swamps, tinged green year round, are the focus for 550 bird varieties, the most breeding species in one habitat anywhere in the world. After lunch continue with afternoon game viewing in the park, a home to Lion, Leopard, and Elephant, buffalo, Python, Zebra, Oryx, Impala and more. On drier ground you find the Kori bustard, the heaviest flying bird; the stocking-thigh ostrich, the world’s largest bird; and small parties of ground hornbills blustering like turkeys. More ardent bird-lovers might keep an eye open for screeching flocks of the dazzlingly colorful yellow-collared lovebird, and the somewhat drabber Rufus-tailed weaver and ashy starling. And then drive back to Arusha in the late afternoon
